the woman matters

The Lalita Lowe woman has an eye for quality and loves attention to detail. Through personal experience or perhaps in your travels around the world, you have had exotic experiences as well as those that challenge you to look deeper into life. You have come to value each moment in your life and approach it as something to be honoured, in the simplest moments and those that deserve greater planning. You bring beauty into your life in many forms, through your values, integrity and creativity and understand that this sense of respect and value begins with yourself. To honour yourself is to honour life in all aspects

the fabrics matter

Fabrics are everything. To start designing I begin with the fabrics and then everything comes after. The fabric has to feel pleasing to touch and be breathable for the body. It also has to suit the purpose of the garment. Texture is also important and where possible I try to include as much variation as possible. Sourcing fabrics in a responsible way takes so much consideration including where they came from and how they were produced. Rather than creating new fabrics all of the textiles in my collection are reclaimed and sourced in Melbourne Australia. It’s all about matching aesthetics with a considered and mindful approach.

the designs matter

The design of a garment influences a woman’s enjoyment and appreciation of it day by day. The design also contributes to it’s longetvity and therefore sustainability. For a garment to be sustainable it must be made well, functional and aesthetically pleasing all at the same time. Beautiful designs that are designed with the woman in mind are more likely to be kept in her wardrobe for years to come.

the patternmaker matters

Patternmaking is an essential element of sustainability. It’s the fit of a garment that determines how much you will love a garment and how long you will wear it. A skilled patternmaker has the ability to incorporate aesthetics and functionality into a design. It takes years of expertise to be able to make an exceptional pattern. And this is why I chose to invest in one of the best patternmakers in Australia.

the maker matters

The value of our clothing lies with the people, hands and hearts who make them. I believe the answer comes back to artisanal and local production. In this way it’s more likely our clothing is not only made with passion and attention to detail, there is more likelihood of it being better quality and worthy to be kept for a lifetime. All of my pieces are handmade in Melbourne Australia by a team of makers who are commited to quality. My pieces may take a little longer to create but it is so worthwhile. The result is a luxurious collection of quality pieces.

the quality matters

Quality is the end result of all of the above. The design, fit, fabrics, and construction of a garment all contribute to the overall longevity and sustainability of a garment. And it’s quality that ensures we will get maximum use and satisfaction from our investment. When we invest in this type of garment we are sure to receive the benefits. Quality is also ensuring the wellbeing of each person when they are making the clothes. This enables us to remember the importance of the process and value the purpose of each piece in our wardrobes.

the planet matters

The beauty of nature is the essence of life. Every element of a natural ecosystem is vital to it’s wellbeing. The soil, insects, animals, water, miniature organisms, purity of the air and more, all contribute to its health. Everything in nature has a purpose. Our clothes also have a purpose, they come from nature and it’s up to us to be mindful of this. Remember to “buy less, choose well and make it last” as Vivienne Westwood has said. In this way, we can do our part to ensure that our personal style is curated with the wellbeing of our planet in mind.
